SD90/43MAC CP #9136

The SD90/43MAC is among the heaviest, longest, and most powerful single diesel locomotives in the world, weighing over 400,000 pounds, with a length of more than 80 feet and a massive 4,300 horsepower tractive effort. There have been three production “versions” of the SD90MAC. Originally designed with a 6,000hp engine in mind, it was ultimately equipped with a smaller and more reliable 4,300hp engine, which most railroads opted to stick with, despite the option to upgrade to the higher horsepower engine at a later date.

Featuring a powerful five-pole KATO motor with dual brass flywheels, directional headlight and preprinted numberboards, Kato magnetic knuckle coupler, and a DCC friendly mechanism ready for drop-in decoder installation, this locomotive has the option of a drop in DCC compatible with the Digitrax DN163K2 or Train Control Systems K2D4.
