The General Electric P42 is a modern passenger locomotive with 4200 horsepower that is used for transportation in both the United States and Canada. Amtrak, a major transportation company, utilizes the P42 in the majority of their revenue service. In 2021, Amtrak celebrated its 50th Anniversary by creating five unique paint schemes for its P42 engines. One of these, #100, is decorated with a deep blue heraldry and features the slogan "Connecting America for 50 years" along with an anniversary logo. Each locomotive is specifically designed to honor Amtrak's heritage and their vision of connecting communities, economies, and families nationwide. The P42 locomotive also features an award-winning DCC friendly mechanism with a powerful five-pole motor driven flywheel drive and directional golden white LED headlights and illuminated pre-printed number boards. In addition, it is equipped with body mounted Kato magnetic knuckle couplers and is officially licensed by Amtrak.
