The Superliner I fleet, based on the famous Budd built HiLevels operated by the Santa Fe railroad for their El Capitan allcoach train, was built in 1979 by Pullman Standard. A total of 102 Superliner I coaches were built, along with 48 Superliner I coachbaggage combination cars featuring a secure baggage hold instead of lower-level seating. In order to transport bulk items, trains would run with Material Handling Cars, which were cargo-carrying freight cars that would run either on the nose or tail of a consist.
The Superliner I cars are finely detailed with prototype accurate painting and lettering, and are equipped with free and smooth rolling trucks for maximum performance. They also feature Kato semi-automatic knuckle couplers and are designed to be pulled by Kato's EMD F40PH or GE P42 Genesis Locomotives. They come in a pack of 6 and have the following specifications:
