N GE P42 Amtrak Phase VI #108 w/ 50th Anniversary Logo

The General Electric P42 is a modern passenger locomotive with 4200 horsepower that is utilized in the United States and Canada, primarily by Amtrak® for their revenue service. In celebration of Amtrak's 50th Anniversary in 2021, they created five unique paint schemes for their P42 engines. For example, #108 carries the Phase VI scheme, which was introduced for locomotives with the new ALC-42 “Charger” engines, along with the anniversary logo. Each locomotive is designed to honor Amtrak’s heritage and their vision of connecting communities, economies, and families nationwide.

The locomotives are outfitted with body mounted KATO magnetic knuckle couplers, directional Golden White LED headlights, and illuminated preprinted numberboards. They also have a powerful five pole motor with all wheel electrical pickup and blackened wheels. The DCC friendly mechanism allows for easy control and customization.

Furthermore, the P42 locomotives are officially licensed by Amtrak and play a crucial role in their passenger service operations. They are a symbol of modern engineering and efficient transportation for travelers across North America.
